Cheese Toasties Recipe
Ingredients:
- 4 slices of bread (white, whole wheat, or sourdough)
- 1 1/2 cups grated cheddar cheese (or a mix of cheddar and mozzarella)
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper (optional)
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Servings:
- Makes 2 servings (2 toasties)
Instructions:
1.Prepare the Bread:
- Spread a thin layer of butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- If using, sprinkle a pinch of garlic powder and black pepper on the buttered sides.
2. Assemble the Toasties:
- Place 2 slices of bread, buttered side down, on a clean surface.
- Divide the grated cheese evenly between the two slices.
- Top with the remaining bread slices, buttered side up.
3.Cook the Toasties:
- Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-low heat.
- Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted. Press down gently with a spatula to help the cheese melt evenly.
- Alternatively, use a sandwich press or toaster oven at 350°F (175°C) for 3-5 minutes.
4.Serve:
- Remove from heat, slice diagonally, and sprinkle with chopped parsley if desired.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes:
- Add extras like sliced tomatoes, ham, or a teaspoon of mustard inside for variety.
- Cooking time may vary depending on your appliance; adjust heat to avoid burning the bread while ensuring the cheese melts fully.
